BE Fit Modern Pilates

The founder and CEO of BE Fit Modern Pilates shares her journey and what clients can expect from their first class.

A Pilates class in 2012 planted the seed for a life-changing career move for Lynn Ahearn. After discovering the Slow Resistance Method and experiencing its benefits firsthand, she opened BE Fit in Laguna Niguel in 2019.

For four years, Ahearn balanced running the studio with a successful career as a banking executive. She eventually left corporate banking to dedicate herself to BE Fit full time.

“Women want spaces designed for them,” Ahearn says. “What really sets us apart is who it’s for: every body, every level. You don’t need to be a Pilates person or an athlete to take a class.”

Tell us about the classes at BE Fit.

Our method reimagines traditional Pilates fundamentals using the XFormer and slow-resistance training. The result is a more dynamic, higher-intensity workout designed to challenge your strength, endurance, and control.

Were there any major challenges you faced?

Going out on my own was the most difficult adjustment. My previous experience taught me how to build effective systems, hire talented people, and lead a team. It also taught me the importance of empowering people whose strengths complement my own.

What type of environment did you hope to create?

I wanted to create a space that felt modern and energizing without being intimidating. The goal is for every person to walk out feeling like this is their studio and that they truly belong here.

Tell us about the Make It Shake method.

The Make It Shake method is a low-impact, high-intensity form of strength training designed to challenge your muscles while remaining gentle on your joints.

What can newcomers expect from their first class?

Our instructors will walk you through the XFormer before class begins, so you never have to feel like you’re guessing. Expect to shake, embrace the challenge, and experience zero judgment. Everyone in that room once walked into their first class too.
