BE Fit Modern Pilates

BE Fit Basics!

If you’ve been on the fence about attending an X-Former class, you’re not alone. Looking in on these classes can be intimidating, especially if you have never been on an X-Former before. Don’t fear, though, because this post will let you in on the important things you need to know before attending your first BE Fit class!

  1. This isn’t like traditional Pilates but in all the best ways!

Although our classes utilize the foundational movements of traditional Pilates, you will be performing them on  X-Former, which allows for far more options and is INTENSE. The great thing about this is that said carriage is connected to a series of springs that can add levels of resistance to the exercises being performed, which will greatly intensify your workout. You will feel the SHAKE in no time!

  1. Each spring is a different amount of resistance.

Going off our last tid-bit, be sure to listen to your instructor on how to adjust your spring load. The springs are color-coded to represent their varying resistances- light (white), medium (grey), and heavy (black). Adding or dropping springs will make the exercises more or less difficult, but don’t worry your instructor will call out spring changes throughout class.

  1. Go SLOW!

If you think this is going to be an easy workout because it moves at a pretty slow pace, you’re in for a wake-up call. While many of the movements performed are small and done slowly, they are incredibly effective at targeting specific muscle groups. You will get the most out of your workout if you perform your movements in counts of 4+ seconds. Go SLOW and embrace the SHAKE!

  1. You will work muscles you didn’t even know you had.

This is a full-body workout. In one class, you will strengthen your arms, abs, back, abs, ass, abs, and legs— your abs will love you. The movements performed on the X-Former are amazing in working multiple muscle groups at a time and giving you a well-rounded workout.  It will help improve your strength, flexibility, and the overall mobility of your body. I promise you, you will walk out of class sore in all the right places. But, hey, you’re the one that wanted those rock-hard abs for summer, right?

We here at BE Fit are so excited to welcome you to the family! Be sure to come to your first class a few minutes early and notify your instructor that it is your first time. They will go over the reformer with you and answer any questions you have.

  1. Invest in a cute pair of grip socks.

Grips socks are required!  Before your first class, make sure you buy a pair of grip socks to help prevent your feet from slipping on the machine and to keep you safe. If you don’t have, we have you covered with an assortment of options.  Also, *cough cough* they are an adorable accessory to any workout outfit! Wishing you the best!
